I originally started my pet sitting business, Tender Loving Care Pet Care Company in 2014. Since I was a graphic designer for many years, I created a card to give out to clients with my business name and phone number: “My Pets Are Home Alone” Emergency ID cards. My clients loved those cards! They would even ask for extras to give to friends and family!
Based on glowing enthusiasm from friends and clients, I was encouraged to start selling them online. Since their beginning, I have expanded my offerings to include plastic cards with key tags, magnets, emergency decals and eventually products for adults and children.

WHAT INSPIRED TLC SAFETY BY DESIGN TO START A BUSINESS?
My inspiration was two-fold. As I had previously mentioned, I designed the “Home Alone” cards as a promo to be given to new pet sitting clients. What precipitated that was when a friend was involved in a bad car accident.
Unconscious, she was unable to give the EMTs any information, including the fact that her dog was home alone. No one knew that she was in the hospital, let alone that her beloved fur baby had no one to give him food or walk him. Luckily, she was not hurt too bad and was able to give the hospital staff her information the next day. As I pondered this, I thought to myself what would have happened if she were not able to speak for an extended period?
That was when inspiration struck. I conceived and created the first version of the “My Pets Are Home Alone” cards. Since then, they have been through a few different incarnations, ending up as the latest version with the plastic card with matching key tag.
I am constantly brimming with new ideas – many of them are still in my head, waiting for time and money to develop into viable products. I hope to be able to bring them to fruition for you and your loved ones soon!

Past fundraising recipients have included Bideawee, North Shore Animal League and Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals. Woodbridge Animal Shelter and Angel Paws have also received generous donations of money and food from our past fundraising efforts.
